First Warn Forecast: Winter Storm Watch issued

Kansas City, Mo. (KCTV) – Data late in the morning has indicated that the small changes in the winter storm affect us on Tuesday night through Wednesday. We are still dealing with a weak cold front today and into Tuesday and pull over the central plains from west to east. Some moisture from the south will pass the storm activity in the south -texas and our west, where our next winter low is coming from today. This allows clouds to remain common throughout the day along with small pockets of light flours isolated throughout the region.

First winter system:

Monday: Setting the scene for the week with a dry start, but it won’t remain that way of the day. The first winter system will kick us on Monday night with rain and a wintry mix for the evening hours. This has resulted in a first warning for the day. When temperatures begin to reduce the transition to snow, taking place with snow showers on Tuesday morning. Right now this first system is the weaker of the two; However, it can still affect your Tuesday morning commuting, so please plan accordingly. There is a first warning weather day in place on Tuesday as the two-system extends the day. This first wave brings a trail to 3 inches possible over the area, with most getting 1-2 inches of sneak cumulation. Temperatures fall below the freezing line on Monday night and will not be heated until closer to the weekend.

At Tuesday morning a little more moisture with lifting into the area, allowing for more spread insulated light snow and flurries, which can lead to accumulation between 0.1 inches to 0.5 inches around the subway. Local areas can reach up to 1.0 inches, but this will be very few and far in between.

When the front leaves east, low pressure slides from the west from the southern rockies and into the central plains. With cold air forced south from high pressure in the northern plains and moist air funnel from the south out of the Gulf, an ideal weather pattern for snow production is expected just over the Missouri River Valley. At this point we remain under the sweet place; Not too far north or too far south that the snow amounts would be smaller. The low, which is mainly driven by the jet stream, which is elaborated over the central plains and runs east. If the jet is weakened in any way, we will see a change of the storm system; Change of wind speeds, timing, snow amounts and temperatures. It is a delicate pattern with minor adjustments that are constantly made

On Tuesday at. 21.00 a winter storm wall will be in force for the region including the subway until Wednesday evening at. 18. As KL. 4 Wednesday and is expected to last all day.

Second Winter System:

A first Warn Weather Day has been declared Wednesday as an effective storm rolls through. This second system is more potent than the first, resulting in a larger stans with influences compared to the first system of road influences throughout Wednesday. The snow showers start very late Tuesday/early Wednesday morning and will continue to bring snow, heavy at times, all day before it diminishes overnight Wednesday. With the heavier snow, reduced visibility will probably be with slippery road conditions. Temperatures will be good below 32-degree brand, which means that any rainfall that falls will be snow. Right now, the snow plains for this second system have increased again to 4-9 inches; However, some areas could have larger amounts. This number will continue to change when we get new information, so be sure to check in on the forecast as we get closer to this event.

Snowfall forecasts are constantly changing, but there has been some consistency in the data “worse case scenario”. Meaning the most amount of snow we could see, and in the last 12 hours we have kept between 8.1 inches and 8.6 inches. Most of them fall below Wednesday. Most data still indicates an interval between 5 inches and 9 inches above the I-70 corridor. In general, this is expected to be significant and dangerous for travel on Wednesday.

We expect the Storms system to end early in Wednesday, which can give snow plowing time to clear our major roads on Wednesday night to Thursday morning commuting. However, local neighborhoods may have snow problems, so pay attention to this for Thursday.

Ex. Simple -digit morning with low temperatures is expected both Thursday and Friday with emotions as temperatures in the range of -5 degrees and -15 degrees.

Third Winter System:

The next winter system is possible Friday night through Saturday. As temperatures will be above the freezer, this system starts as rain for a winter mix for snow by Saturday. Models do not agree with the exact timing as one brings precipitation Friday night and the other is waiting until Saturday. Depending on the timing, this system can affect any Valentine’s plans if you are planning to take your girlfriend out for a dinner date. Saturday is a first warning as any plans could be affected by this third system with both long -distance models showing wintry rainfall throughout the day.

It is about to be a very active week in terms of weather with multiple systems. No matter how much snow you get this system will have an impact on the area. So please plan accordingly as we prepare for these three rounds of snow.
