Kendrick Lamar Halfime Show explained: Serena Williams, more

Kendrick Lamar got the world to talk to his attention-catching Super Bowl-half Sunday night. Like the Pulitzer-winning hip-hop legend, the centerstage of New Orleans’ Caesar Superdome took, everyone wondered what he had to do-and the most important question was whether he would perform “not like us” aimed at his rap-rival drake .

Lots of fans thought Lamar would steer away from drama, especially since “not like us” is now involved in some pretty serious legal issues (Drake filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group that accused them of defamation of having allowed to stay Published, especially because Lamar calls him a pedophile in the field.) Lamar all shocked not only to mention the trial, but also sing the song’s most controversial lyrics at one of the biggest stages in America. However, it was only part of the performance. Lamar packed the entire half-time exhibition with all-star comedy, political undertones and choreography movements that not everyone who looks at. Serena Williams’ como

At the forefront of Kendrick Lamar’s set, people were hungry to know how much more salt he would pour into Drake’s wounds, as well as who would join him in the field. The answer to both was unexpected when the camera paneled to Serena Williams Crip Walking Under “Not like us.” The layers of the look were endless, but the most condemning is that Williams was rumored to date Drake many years ago. He has referred her to songs as “Worst behavior” and once called her husband Alexis Ohanian a “Groupie.” Williams gets a defensive cry from colleague Compton Native Lamar on “Not Like Us” when he rapped “better not talk about Serena.” But outside the beef, Williams’ Cameo was a full circle for a moment: Back in 2012, she was criticized for doing the same dance after she beat Maria Sharapova in Wimbledon. She joked with it after the Super Bowl. “Man, I didn’t wander like that on Wimbledon,” she said. “Ooh, I would have been fine.”

Flag formation

Divided states in America? For the rap star’s performance of “Humble”, the Lamar scene surrounded by 60 dancers dressed in red white and blue, took up to look like the American flag. Lamar rapped about the damn track lyrics that stood in the middle of the flag, cut into two opposite halves. For many viewers, the “humble” part of the performance (and the dancing formation) symbolized the state of America today after the election of President Trump, who was in the audience on Sunday night. – Tm

Samuel L. Jackson as Uncle Sam

Before Lamar started his set, the first person we saw was none other than Samuel L. Jackson. The legendary actor was dressed as Uncle Sam in a star -sparkled suit. He welcomed the audience to the “big American game” and served as Emcee, who helped move the set. He calls the set “too loud, too reckless, for ghetto” at one point and shows a contentious relationship between Lamar and Uncle Sam as a figure of American idealism. Uncle Sam also holds the score as the show continues, pulling “One Life” when Lamar is with his “Homeboys” on stage. –BS

Buick Gnx

Lamar opened the half -time exhibition by going out of a Buick GNX from 1987, a motif from his 2024 album, named after the muscle car. The vehicle symbolized both the classic roots in Lamar’s rap style and a subtle tribute to his father who drove the same vehicle when Lamar was born in ’87. “My pops put me on rap,” said by Buick Regals back in 2012. “When I was born, I came home from the hospital in an ’87 Buick Regal while my pops hit Big Daddy Kane.” – Tm

Kendrick’s ‘A’ chain

Kendrick appeared adorned in a shiny “A” chain that caught the attention of viewers. Many people perceived it as a subtle reference to his “a smaller” song in “not like us,” the scare dissement who accused Drake of being a “certified pedophile.” Others speculated that A is an alternative logo for his company Pglang. Who knows what the meaning behind the chain is, but we all know how intentional Kendrick is; He wasn’t wearing it just because he likes the shape of “a.” –Ag

Mustard’s appearance

At the end of Kendrick’s set, he brought out Mustard, the LA-based manufacturer that produced “Not Like Us”, as well as “TV Off” and “Hey Now” on Kendricks GNX album. Mustard said he got “not like us” to beat in 30 minutes and sent it to Kendrick in a package of other beats. The half -hour work got him an iconic song and a platform at the world’s largest concert. –Ag
