At least 1 died after jets collided at Scottsdale Airport, sources say

Scottsdale, AZ (Azfamily) – At least one person is dead after two jets collided on the runway at Scottsdale Airport, sources of Arizona’s family said.

About 14.45, several emergencies responded to reports of an emergency at the airport near Scottsdale and Thunderbird Roads.

According to FAA, a “Learjet 35A turned out of the runway after landing and crashed into a Gulfstream 200 business beam on the ramp.”

Scottsdale Fire officials say a person was found dead on arrival while three people were hospitalized. A fifth person is still stuck in one of the jets.

Flight Tracking Site Ads-B Exchange showed that the flight came in from Austin.

“Faa temporarily pauses flights into the airport,” the agency said in a statement. It is unclear when airport operations resume.

The city of Scottsdale sent the following statement:

Scottsdale Airport says its runway is closed as emergency herds are on stage with an “accident” that took place on Monday afternoon
