The Ministry of Justice order charges against NYC Mayor Eric Adams dismissed

To trade us vice -generate Attorney Emil Bove has ordered federal prosecutors in New York to drop Corruption fees against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, said an official in the senior department on Monday night.

The order is that all charges against Adams should be rejected and the dismissal is without reservation, the official said, which means charges could be resumed in the future.

The charges have not yet been rejected and federal prosecutors in New York did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A dismissal would have to come up with a proposal from prosecutors in the southern district of New York, where the charges were brought. A proposal for dismissal should also be reviewed by a judge.

Adams, a former Captain of the New York Police Department elected mayor in 2021, was indicted for bribery, fraud and other counts in an indictment in September. The indictment accused Adams of taking $ 100,000 worth of free airline tickets and luxury hotel from wealthy Turkish citizens and at least one government official for an almost decade long corruption scheme.

Adams has not pleaded guilty. He has said he is innocent, that the charges are politically motivated and that he would fight the charges.

The Senior Justice Department Officer said on Monday that the charges would be reviewed when a trump-appointed US lawyer is confirmed.

Damian Williams, the Biden-appointed US lawyer for the southern district of New York, who brought the charges against Adams, withdrew after President Trump won the 2024 election.

A lawyer for Adams at the end of January contacted management department management to drop that criminal case against him, NBC News has reported.
