NJ WEATHER: Winter Storm -Warners, Other Alarms Issued As Tuesday’s Snow Storm Weave

The National Weather Service Has upgraded Winter Storm watches to Winter Storm warnings in parts of southern New Jersey in front of the latest storm that is expected to fall up to half a feet of snow in some areas over the next two days.

The warnings will be effective from late Tuesday afternoon to early Wednesday morning in Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties.

Other New Jersey -Homter – including Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean and Salem – are under winter weather advisers who are not as urgent as a winter storm warning, but warning drivers of the potential for smooth road conditions.

Forecasters say the majority of the storm will be centered on South Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, which is why these areas are expected to get the heaviest sneak cumulations.

Only a slight coating of snow is expected in the long northern New Jersey and 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected in North-central parts of the state.

Tuesday’s storm is only one of three storm systems aimed at the New Jersey region for the next six days coming in the wake of a host of other messy winter storms that brought a mixture of snow, gossip and freeze rain to the garden state.

The second storm will probably drop snow and gossip, starting Wednesday morning in South Jersey and Wednesday afternoon in northern areas and continues through Thursday morning or early Thursday afternoon, when expected to change to rain, forecasters said.

The storm on Wednesday-Thursday could bring 1 to 2 inches of snow and gossip in southern counties and 2 to 3 inches in northern counties, says Vejretservice.

It will be followed by another storm system on Saturday and Sunday, but forecasters say it is too early to get a good grip on the effects. Currently, the weather service is calling for some snow that switches to rain.
