Christy Carlson Romano Shot: Former ‘Even Stevens’ actress shot while celebrating man Brendan Rooney’s birthday

Former “Even Stevens” actor Christy Carlson Romano is recovering from a recent scary incident where she says she was shot in her face.

Romano, 40, took to Instagram On February 8, to share what she said happened that day before, while celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday.

“Yesterday was my husband’s birthday and I took him to shoot clay pigeons as a gift. There was another party with us and they fired in the wrong direction in the wrong direction and shot me in the face,” she wrote in the caption of his post.

Romano said her husband “immediately jumped into action, assessed me and rushed to the hospital.”

“I was hit in 5 places, one was smaller than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye,” she continued in the caption. “Unfortunately, a fragment was hospitalized behind my eye and it is too risky to remove surgically at this point. Doctors continue to monitor me (I can see normally at the moment).”

Romano said that, after all, what happened, “all I can think of is how grateful I am of being alive.”

“I love my daughters, husband, family and friends so much,” she concluded her post. “I saw my life blinking for my eyes and I tell you, hugging people around you every chance you can. Life can change in a moment.”

In a video that came with her post, the Disney Channel -alunet saw a look at her injuries and pointed out the fragments she says are still in her face.

Romano also thanked the first respondents and medical professionals in the hospital, where she says she was treated, and called them “superhero -like people.”

Rooney commented on her wife’s post and referred to her as “the bravest, toughest, most stoic and bad woman I’ve ever met.”

“I’m so grateful that you live,” he wrote. “I am so grateful that you are the mother of our children. I would not know what to do without you. I love you more than life itself.”

Romano and Rooney married in December 2013, sharing two daughters, Isabella and Sophia.

ABC News has reached Roman’s representatives who were unable to give details of where the incident took place or if a police report was submitted at the time of publication. ABC News has also reached the hospital, as Romano said in her Instagram video that she was treated on.
