Clemson takes on an ACC Blue Blood at home for the second time in three days and hosts UNC (14-10, 7-5 ACC) Monday night.

Both teams come in from a win, with Tigers grabbing their first top-2-ranked victory since 2001 (77-71 over No. 2 Duke Saturday) but a nation-leading fifth AP Top 5 victory in pull-and UNC Keeps Pitt at home, 67-66. Tar Heels had lost 4-of-5 earlier, with two who came with a point and a 17-point road defeat at Duke. Brownell’s group has won 10-AF-12 since back-to-back ot losses in December to Memphis and South Carolina.

*Clemson will try to do something that the program has never done when the Tigers face North Carolina on Monday night. So far this year, Tigers is 3-0 against ACC’s North Carolina schools, victories over Wake Forest, NC State and Duke. A victory over North Carolina on Monday would give Clemson an unnoticed 4-0 slate against these schools this year.

*Clemson has beaten all four ACC schools from North Carolina in the same season eight times earlier, including as late as 2019-20, but did it just once in the at least 29 years. But had at least two losses each of these years. Of course, we compare apples and oranges a little with this note because teams used to play each league school twice. Tigers’ most victories over North Carolina ACC schools in the same year took place in 1976-77, when Clemson had a 7-2 record against these schools. It was Tree Rollins’ senior season.

*The tigers ended 1-1 against Tar Heels last season. Each team won on the other’s home ground, including an 80-76 Clemson victory-like the other in Chapel Hill all the time.
