Penndot -crews treat roads as winter blend leaves layer of ice over Delaware Valley

King of Prussia, Pa. (WPVI) – A mixture of gossip and freezing rain blanket parts of the Delaware valley on Saturday night, leaving ice layer on several surfaces from the streets to seats.

Penndot spokesman Brad Rudolph said that more than 250 trucks salt roads all over the region.

“This one seems to be a smooth storm. More ice that is truly dangerous,” Rudolph said. “We’d rather be snow. Easier to clear. IS is really dangerous (and) difficult to see sometimes,” Rudolph said.

Rudolph warns residents to slow down, both behind the wheel and on foot.

“The roads are a bit treacherous at the moment,” said Juan Miguel-Abreu of King of Prussia. “Everyone is going pretty slow. I went as slowly as I possibly can because I don’t want to hit anything.”

The Vintry mixture did not prevent customers from making some last moment food purchases in King of Prussia.

“The actual parking lot is smoother than roads is,” Benjamin Dolinka said.

“It wasn’t that bad, but you could see that overnight it could end up being really smooth,” said Jennifer Dolinka.

The shopping carts are also smooth, but an Eagles fan in Upper Chichester held a good grip as he walked away with a new TV to watch the birds dominate in the Super Bowl.

“The handles are already icing up,” Bermyl Burns of Wilmington said. “You just have to hope the plows are out there that continue to salt and do their jobs, and we’re doing well.”

Penndot reduced the speed limit to 45 km / h on multiple motorways until conditions are safe:

Interstates 76, 95, 295, 476, 676.
American Routes 1, 30, 202, 422.
State Routes 63, 100 Spur and 309.
