Ex-Detroit Lions QB Kellen Moore appointed New Orleans Saint’s main coach

Another coach with ties to Detroit Lions Lasts an NFL team for the first time in 2025.

Kellen Moore, 36, a former quarterback that spent three seasons with Lions From 2012-14, the head coach of New Orleans Saints was appointed Tuesday. His relocation ends this year’s employment cycle when seven franchises – including Chicago Bears (Ben Johnson) and the New York Jets (Aaron Glenn) – knocked on new leaders.

Moore was a four-year-old starter in Boise State before signing with the lions as an unveiled free agent in 2012. He completed 69.8% of his 1,658 collegial pass attempts of 14,667 yard.

He went 50-3 as a starter and never lost more than a competition in one season.

Moore was behind Matthew Stafford on the depth card and never appeared in a game of Lions, though he started two starts later in his career as a member of Dallas Cowboys in 2015. Moore played two more seasons with cowboys before retiring and became their quarterbacks -The trainer in 2018. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2019 and held the title until 2022.

Cowboys and Moore shared ways and he became Brandon Staley’s offensive coordinator with Los Angeles Chargers in 2023. Staley was fired after 14 games. Moore then signed with Philadelphia Eagles in the same role were out of season and he helped them win the Super Bowl Lix on Sunday.

Philadelphia ranked seventh in points (27.2) and eighth at yards (367.2) this season.
