Arvind Krishna celebrates the work of a pioneer

ARVIND KRISHNA TALK ON THE STECTION AT THE TIME100 AI IMPACT AWARDS DUBAI, AD 10 FEBRUCTIES

ONERvind Krishna, CEO, President and President of IBM, used his acceptance Speech at the time 100 AI Impact Awards Monday to recognize pioneering computer scientist and mathematician Claude Shannonthat calls him one of the “unsung heroes today.”

Krishna that accepted His price At a ceremony in Dubai with musician Grimes, California Institute of Technology Professor Anima Anandkumarand artist Refik Anadolsaid of Shannon, “He would come in the ways you can convey information that everyone has stood the test until today.”

In 1948, Shannon – now known as the father of the information age – would publish “A Mathematical Communication Theory”, a transformative paper that, by proposing a simplified way of quantifying information via bits, continues to basically shape the development of information technology – and thus Our modern era. In his speech, Krishna also pointed to Shannon’s work on building robot mice that solved mazes as an example of his joy in play in his research.

Krishna, of course, has some familiarity with what it takes to be at the forefront. Under his leadership, IBM cuts, known as a pioneer in artificial intelligence, its own niche in Specialized AI and invests heavily in quantum computer research – the mission of building a machine based on quantum principles that could perform calculations much faster than existing computers. The company also runs a cloud computing service, designs software and runs a consultancy.

Krishna said he most enjoyed Shannon’s work because the researcher’s “simple insight” has helped contribute to the “most sophisticated communication systems” today, including satellites. When he talked about Shannon’s theoretical work, which Krishna said was a precursor to neural networks, he noted, “I think we can give him the credit for building the first elements of artificial intelligence.”

The Time100 AI Impact Awards Dubai was presented by World Government Summit and The Museum of the Future.
