3 Observations After Sixers Suffer 5. Loss In 6 Games, Falling to Bucks On Super Bowl Sunday – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Super Bowl on Sunday started with a defeat in Philadelphia Sports.

At the forefront of Eagles’ Matchup with Chiefs, Sixers fell to a 135-127 loss to Bucks on the Fiserv Forum.

After their fifth loss in the last six games, Sixers sit on 20-32. Milwaukee moved to 28-23.

Tyrese Maxey posted 39 points and five assists. Joel Embiid recorded 27 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.

Damian Lillard led Milwaukee with 43 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.

Sixers’ only player out was Jared McCain (left lateral meniscus surgery). Milwaukee was down in superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo (left calf stem) and Pat Connughton (left calf strain).

Sixers come home and face Raptors Tuesday night. Here are observations about their loss Sunday:

Great Start for Embiid-Maxy-Par

Embiid made several field goals in the first two minutes, so in the entire first half of Sixers’ blowout tab on Friday for the stamps. He tossed his first three field goals and hit two mid-class shots and a top-of-the-key three-pointer.

EMBIID added another two triple in a 15-point, sweet shooting in the first quarter. A MAXEY jumper gave Sixers a 27-20 lead.

The Embiid-Maxy duo published 30 of the Sixers’ first 32 points. The two a total of 50 first half.

Individually, Maxey Milwaukee turned on for 20 points on 8-for-11 shooting in the first quarter. Highly early work of Sixers’ best players in a game where their team hard needed a much improved start.

Paul George, who sported a bit of a black eye after taking an elbow to the cheek area in Detroit, did not take a shot until the 2:36 mark in the first quarter. He posted only two points in the first quarter, though he chip in four assists and two steals.

Down day for the Sixers’ supportive role crew

Sixers’ defense did not have an exemplary first quarter.

Quentin Grimes allowed one and a layup to Lillard and buried Gary Trent Jr. on a three-point attempt. Kyle Kuzma’s Summer-Summary Layup from a Baseline-Out-of-Bounds game set Bucks in 40 first quarter.

Sixers mixed their defense, sprinkles in some zone and used different players and varied pick-and-roll coverings on Lillard. Nothing was effective long.

Jared Butler (seven points in 11 minutes) debuted at the start of the second quarter and played next to Kyle Lowry and Grimes. Sixers head coach Nick Nurse used a 10-man rotation, and Guerschon Yabusele’s minutes were slightly lower than his norm at 25. He scored all 18 of his points in the second half.

In part because of these minutes with smaller lineups, the Sixers fought again on the glass. Milwaukee had a 31-10 edge on the second chance in the game.

Bucks were also resolutely superior in the bench scoring and voted with 54 other unit’s points for Sixers ’35.

Bucks shooting the Sixers out of the game

After two Bobby Portis offensive rebounds in the third quarter, Lillard preserved a corner three who built Bucks’ advantage to 87-76. Milwaukee led by so many 13 points in the third quarter after a deep portis jumper.

Maxey and Embiid could not maintain their huge score from the first half, and Sixers did not have much meaningful production from anyone else. Start Wings Kelly Oubre Jr. And Justin Edwards combined to score 14 points on 6-for-16 shooting.

Sixers took a few rushed jumpers and started the fourth quarter badly. As Trent drained his seventh three, their deficit exceeded 20 points. Milwaukee got up 55 triple Sunday and made a season high 24.

Sixers prevented Bucks from sealing the game right up to the last moments. They played full court, caught defense and scored regularly. Yabusele drilled a three, took a fee at Kuzma and continued to fight.

However, Milwaukee was never really threatened in the fourth quarter. For Sixers, there are now only 30 games in regular season back to get back on a kind of positive track and win in the position.
