Pope Francis criticized the Trump Administration’s attitude towards migrants and called the president’s promise of mass portions “a great crisis.”

In one heavily formulated letter For American Catholic bishops, Francis wrote that it is important for Catholics to disagree with any measure that identifies the illegal status of some migrants with crime.

Francis also said that the deporting of people – who in many cases have left their own country for the reasons of extreme poverty, exploitation and persecution – “harm the dignity of many men and women and whole families and place them in a state of particular vulnerability and defenselessness.

The letter also seems to respond to comments from Vice President Vance, where he said people should look after their family, community and country before they care for others.

Instead, Francis wrote that people should meditate on love that builds a fraternity that is open to everyone, without exception.

“Christian Love is not a concentric expansion of interests that gradually expands to other people and groups,” the Paven writes.

The pope is the second senior Catholic leader who criticizes Vance, who is Catholic.

After Vance accused the US Conference of Catholic Bishops of Renemnation of Immigrants of Receiving Federal Funding, the New York Cardinal called Timothy Dolan Vice President’s comments “Skullilous” and “Ugly.”

“You will come and look at our revisions, which are carefully done? You think we make money from the immigrants? We lose it over fist … We are not in a money -gathering business,” Dolan said.
