Piston’s set of team record with 42-point half-time line vs. Bulls

The Chicago-Detroit stamps set a franchise record on Tuesday night after building a 42-point half-time line on the way to a 132-92 race over Chicago Bulls.

Detroit Outscorated Bull’s 71-29 in the first half and darkened the previous brand of 34 points against Chicago on March 23, 1969.

Malik Beasley set a Detroit record for 3-Pointers in a season of 212 after making 7 of 10. The previous brand was 211 of Saddiq Bey in 2021-22. Cade Cunningham added 20 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds as the stamps got away with their most crooked victory of the season.

Tobias Harris scored 18 and Ausar Thompson ended with 16 points as the stamps rolled to their third win in a row.

The victory guaranteed Pistons a winning record that goes into the All-Star break for the first time in 16 seasons, according to ESPN Research.

Bulls set a team record by missing out on their first 20 3-Pointers before Ayo Dosunmu hit a near end of the second quarter. They were 10-of-47 beyond the arch and shot 35% overall in the game.

Things were so comical for Chicago that Nikola VUUCEVIC threw her arms up in the mock celebration after making a crunchy shot late in the first half that trimmed the deficit to 43. And the amount cheered as well.

But there was also boos during drubbing, something Bulls guardian Josh Gidde said the team “deserved.”

“It’s our responsibility as players to give them something to cheer for,” Gidde said about the fans at the arena. “Tonight we probably deserved it. We didn’t give them anything to cheer for. We were down 40 in the first half and it’s not acceptable.”

Chicago had only two players score in double – Matas Buzelis (12 points) and Gidde (11). Coby White scored a season-low five points, making only 2 out of 13 shots and missing all eight 3-point attempts.

Chicago wants his chance of revenge when the teams meet again Wednesday.
