Playing Zach Edey tonight against Phoenix Suns? Latest on Grizzlies Rookies Availability (11 February)

Memphis Grizzlies takes on Phoenix Suns on Tuesday in a national TV game. Zach Edey, Grizzlies’ 7-Foot-4-Rowie Center, is expected to fit and start. Edey played 13 minutes in 125-112 loss to OKC Thunder on Saturday, but is healthy for Tuesday’s highly expected meeting.

There has been concern for Edey playing with a face mask after suffering a nasal injury against San Antonio Spurs on January 17th.

Grizzlies Big Man took an elbow in his face while trying to contest Julian Champagne’s drive to the basket. The injury was not as severe as the first thought Edey has stated every game for Memphis since then.

Grizzlies held the ninth election in the 2024 NBA draft, and with a need for a dominant post player chose Edey.

The Canadian center came out of an unusual year of Purdue Boilermakers, an average of 25.2 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He was named Naismith College Player of the Year in the second season in a row and led Boilermakers all the way to the national championship.

Zach Edey’s dominance under the curve has given a big boost to Memphis Grizzlies, number two at the Western conference with a 35-17 record.

This season, Edey is an average of 9.7 ppg, 7.6 RPG, 1.0 Acts and 1.2 BPG over 20.7 mpg. He has appeared in 38 games and has started 31 times.

Against a talented Suns list that includes Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, Edey and Grizzlies will have to be best if they hope to pull a victory in the footprint center.
