Anthony Edwards, Mike Conley questionable for Wolves-Cavs Monday

Anthony Edwards (right hip -soreness) and Mike Conley (right index finger displacement) are officially listed as questionable for the Timberwolves game against Cavaliers Monday night in Cleveland.

Edwards and Conley both missed Saturday’s win over Trail Blazers in Minneapolis. Chris Finch said he didn’t expect it to be a long -term absence for Edwards and described him as day to day. Julius Randle (right groin) and Donete Divincenzo (left large toe sprain) remain out and is not expected to return until at least after the All-Star break, beginning next Friday.

Edwards scored a total of 90 points in his last two performances, led Wolves to win over Bulls and Rockets on back-to-back nights this week. But he was held out against Blazers as a caution, perhaps with the hope that he will feel good enough to play against Cavs. Edwards, fifth in NBA at 27.2 points per Match this season, has played in 51 of 53 matches for Minnesota. He has not missed two games in a row since November 30. 2, 2023.

Conley has missed six total matches so far in his 18th NBA season. He average one career-low 8.2 points per Match, but he had 16 in the victory over Houston on Thursday.

30-23 Wolves sit in No. 6 seeds in the western conference. They probably need Edwards available to have a realistic chance of a road victory over Cavaliers who have the second best record in the NBA at 42-10. Cleveland is 24-4 at home this season.

This will be the second of two meetings between these teams. Cavs won 124-117 in Minneapolis on January 18, though it was a tough place for Wolves who had beaten Knicks in New York the previous night.

After a one-time trip to Cleveland, Minnesota has a home back-to-back against Bucks and Thunder on Wednesday and Thursday, before he gets seven days off over the All-Star break.
