Winter Storm Warning remains in effect as the DC region is slammed by vigorous snow

National Weather Service said a Winter Storm warning would remain in effect until 7 AM as between 1 and 3 inches of snow was expected to continue to build overnight.

The morning commuting brings a stain freezing drip, a few gossip pellets and snowflakes.

The roads remain slushy with icy and smooth spots until about 2 p.m. 9, when the surrounding sun that comes through the thick clouds warms the sidewalk over freezing. Clouds remain stubborn with constant light rain that returns to the afternoon parlor.

In the afternoon, the DC area may see a wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet that will later fall into rain. Today’s high temperatures remain in the mid -30s in large parts of the day, with winds staying at approx. 5 km / h.

Come on Thursday, any remaining snow building on the roads is likely to be washed out when the DC area is hit with another dose of rain. Temperatures are expected to reach the high 40s before falling back into the low 20s at night falls.

The start of the weekend starts with some sunny weather on Friday. But this postponement will be temporary as Saturday and Sunday must be rainy according to the weather service.
