  • Seven Big Ten matches take the stage on national platforms this week, while the remaining games will be streamed live on B1G+ (Visit BigtenPlus.com for more information). Thursday opens on the Big Ten Network (and the Fox Sports app) with Nebraska visiting no. 17/15 Maryland at. 18:30 ET. A few competitions are set for peacock, starting with No. 9/8 Ohio State, who hosts Minnesota at. 7.30 pm one. Fans will be treated with a Crosstown showdown between No. 1 UCLA and No. 6 USC at. 22 one when the teams are fighting for the top place in the Big Ten position.
  • Bragging rights are on the line on Saturday when Purdue leads to Indiana for a noon on BTN. Big Ten Women’s Basketball will take over BTN this Sunday with a triple header.   • Junior Kaylene Smikle was chosen as the Big Ten Player of the Week Monday after an average of 28.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, shooting 89.5 percent on the free -throwing line in Maryland’s pair of road wins. She scored 21 points and went 10-for-10 on the charity strip with nine rebounds against Oregon and shot 72.2 percent off the field on the way to a career hill 36 points against Washington.
  • Syla Swords’ efforts during Michigan’s 2-0 weeks earned his Big Ten Freshman of the Week Laurels Monday. Swords tile in 15 points, five rebounds and five assists in Nebraska. She followed up with a game-high 19 points with six assists and five boards to pass Wolverines past No. 20 Michigan State.
  • Michigan head coach Kim Barnes Arico tied John Beilein as the winning coach of Michigan Basketball History, Men or Women, with 278 wins in Ann Arbor, when Wolverines topped Michigan State, 71-61.
  • Northwestern won his first Big Ten victory this season with a 69-63 triumph over the Penn State.
  • With a victory of 78-69, Rutger’s main coach Coquese Washington noted his first win over Purdue at the helm of Scarlet Knights and the program’s first win against Boilermakers since 2021.
  • The USC pulled 62 rebounds against Ohio State, the highest number of rebounds of this century for a Trojan team.
  • UCLA has stretched its seasonal record to 23-0, the program record for the longest victory in school history. Bruins is the only undefeated team left in the division of Women’s Basketball.
  • This week’s Poll Associated Press (AP) contained five teams from the Big Ten. UCLA remained in the top location and, together with No. 6, became USC, No. 9 Ohio State, No. 17 Maryland and No. 22 Michigan State. Illinois and Michigan received votes.
  • UCLA has spent 12 consecutive weeks on No. 1 in AP Top 25, a new Big Ten Women’s Basketball record for weeks at the top of the rankings.
  • Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA)/USA Today Poll contained five Big Ten Hold this week. UCLA stayed at No. 1, followed by No. 6 USC, No. 8 Ohio State, No. 15 Maryland and No. 22 Michigan State. Michigan got votes.
  • Through Monday, the USCS Juju Watkins is the only player on average at least 20 points per Battle during the conference (22.7 ppg). On the boards, Illinois’ Kendall Bostic (11.3 RPG) is the lone player who on average double -digit rebounds.
  • Big Ten leads all divisions in conferences with 12 teams among the top 40 in the latest Net rankings, including five in the top 25 – no. 5 UCLA, No. 6 USC, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 20 Michigan State, No. . 23 Maryland, No. 27 Michigan, No. 29 Iowa, No. 31 Minnesota, No. 32 Illinois, No. 36 Oregon, No. 39 Indiana and No. 40 Nebraska. The NCAA evaluation tool (NET) is the primary sorting tool used by the NCAA Division in Women’s Basketball Committee to determine the NCAA Tournament team.
  • Purdue currently has the second best net force for the schedule in the country. Boilermakers are with Oregon (9.), Maryland (11.), Michigan (13.), Iowa (14.), Indiana (16.) and USC (17.) with some of the toughest schedules this season based on Netto Location.
  • As a team, the USC leads the country behind 7.0 blocks per year. Battle, while Minnesota stands fifth with a 1.58 assist/turnover relationship. UCLA average 21.1 assists (4th), shoots 49.1 percent from the field (6.) and has the top rebound margin (+15.3). Ohio State puts the nation in the revenue margin (+10.8) and Illinois has an 80.8 free throwing percentage to check in second place.
  • Offensive production is still the call card at the Big Ten conference. The league has four teams on average more than 80 points per year.   • On December 2, for the first time in the story of the Big Ten conference, nine women’s basketball team was ranked in Pollen Associated Press (AP). The last time every conference had nine teams ranked in the AP vote was in 1996. UCLA remained in the top location and, along with No. 6, became USC, No. 7 Maryland, No. 12 Ohio State, No. 17 Iowa, No. 21 Illinois , No. 23 Michigan, No. 24 Michigan State and No. 25 Nebraska.
  • On November 25, UCLA received 20 votes in first place to overtake South Carolina to No. 1 place in the Associated Press (AP) survey. Bruins handed Gamecocks their first loss of the season to earn the first No. 1 position in the program history.
  • Down goes no. 1! In front of a sold-out audience at Pauley Pavilion, No. 5 UCLA, the defending national champions took down No. 1 South Carolina, 77-62, on November 24. The victory marked the first win for Bruins over a number one ranked opponent in the program history and cracked Gamecocks ’43-play-winning row. South Carolina had not lost since he fell to Iowa in the Final Four of the 2023 NCAA tournament, and it was the first way defeat for Gamecocks since December 2021.
  • Rutgers legend Cappie Pondexter was chosen as one of seven inductors in Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the 2025 class. Pondexter, introduced in Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016, led Scarlet Knights to Back-to-Back Big East Championships in 2005 and 2006. She was the first player to earn all-Big East First Team Laurels four times in the league’s History and ranks third in Rutger’s history with 2,211 career points. Pondexter was the second overall election in the WNBA draft in 2006 by Phoenix Mercury. She won two WNBA titles with Mercury, was named Finals MVP in 2007, earned seven All-Star appearances and wins a gold medal at the Summer Olympics in 2008 in Beijing.
  • The new era of the Big Ten Women’s Basketball started off a hot start as programs won more than 87 percent of their matches during the first week of the 2024-25 campaign. The results of the stars included five wins over the AP Top 25 opponents, including three disturbances.
  • The Television Plan 2024-25 contains the most coverage on national distributed platforms in the Big Ten Women’s Basketball History. Twelve Big Ten -Matchups, including eight regular seasonal matches, will be the television on a broadcast platform via NBC or FOX, the most in conference history. All 162 conference games will be produced or distributed in the 11th consecutive season.
  • 2025 Tiaa Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament is set to March 5-9 inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This marks the 26th time that the tournament has been held in Indianapolis since the event began in 1982. The tournament will be the first to have a 15-team field. Peacock has the television with the opening of three matches Wednesday with the second round, quarterfinals and semi-final matches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday scheduled for the Big Ten network. CBS will be releasing Sunday’s championship game for the second year in a row.
