Douglas Racks Up Third Straight Valley Freshman of the Week Award

St. Louis – Missouri State Women’s Basketball Forward Lainie Douglas Was appointed Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for the third week, the League announcement (February 10).

Across victories against Indiana State and Evansville, Douglas was an average of 18.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks per year. Battle and shot .682 (15-22) from the field. All of these statistics ranked within the top eight at the conference last week, including league-high brands in field target percentage (min. 5 fgm/g) and blocks.

In Friday evening’s victory over Indiana State, Douglas started the most out of her first career start. She posted a career high 20 points (9-13 fg) while most matching her career in rebounds (9) and blocks (3) against Sycamores. On Sunday against Evansville, Douglas poured 17 points (6-9 fg) at only 14:18 from the bench. Against Purple Aces had Overland Park, can., Natives also seven rebounds, three blocks and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.

Douglas has six double figures scoring performance on the season, with five of them coming in the last six games. This marks the third price of the season for Douglas.

Missouri State travels to southern Illinois on Thursday, February 13 (18:00) before returning to home to host Valparaiso on Sunday 16 February (14:00).
