Winter Storm Warning now issued to More Michigan -Mame

As today’s blizzard forecast is sharpening, Winter Storm warnings have been raised in 10 counties – so far – sitting closest to Lake Huron. National Weather Service (NWS) says these are the places that could see 8+ inches of snow with the incoming storm.

In southeastern Michigan and the thumb area, the counties include during a warning Huron, Sanilac, St. Clair and Macomb. To the north includes the counties during a warning Alpena, Alcona, Ogemaw, Iosco, Gladwin and Arenac.

The warnings run from 1 p.m. 13 Wednesday to 7 Thursday.

“Total snow collections between 6 and 8 inches,” can be expected, according to NWS meteorologists at the Detroit Office. “Peak snowfall speeds, larger than half an inch per hour, are expected late in the afternoon in the evening, about between 16 and 2 am snowfall of over 1 inch per hour, will be possible during the late night.”

Blowing and driving snow can also be a problem in these areas. Motorists must be careful, especially on bridges and transitional areas that could quickly become smooth.

Visibility could fall below a quarter kilometer.

“Travel could be very difficult. The dangerous conditions could affect Wednesday night and Thursday morning commuting, ”NWS said when issuing the warning. “If you are going to travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in the event of an emergency.”
