About 2 million baked goods sold nationwide – including some donuts and coffee rollers purchased at Dunkin ‘ – were recalled last month due to concerns that the products could be contaminated with Listeria, according to the US Food and Drug Administration.

Producer FGF Brands issued the recall involving products before December 13, 2024, the FDA said in a enforcement report Published Wednesday. The recall came into force on January 7, 2025, but the FDA did not issue a press release.

The recalled products included a variety of chocolate, raspberries and Bavarian donuts, French crullers, éclairs and coffee rollers.

Dunkin ‘responded to a request for comment by quoting a statement from FGF marks.

In that, the company said it wanted to clarify the coverage of its recall to “ensure that customers have not been misled or confused.”

The recall was completed in early January and came as a result of the conclusions of one of the company’s donut facilities in the United States, it said. No food had tested positively for listeria and donuts currently on the market are safe to eat, it added.

Listeria is the third leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the United States, according to to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Most people who eat food contaminated with the bacteria do not get sick, but pregnant women, infants and older people with those with weakened immune system can become seriously ill or die, CDC said.

Estimated 1,600 Americans are infected with Listeria every year and about 260 people die from the bacteria, the agency said.
