Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes, has erupted and turned off for almost two months since it broke to life on December 23rd. The outbreak has taken place on Volcano’s Summit Crater inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. No residential areas have been threatened by lava.

The latest release of Molten Rock began 10:16 pm with lava flowing on to the floor of the Halemaumau crater. Half an hour later, a vent-lava about 330 feet (100 meters) tall.

This is the ninth episode of eruptive activity since December 23, Hawaiian Volcano said Observatory. Previous episodes have lasted 13 hours to eight days of breaks in between.

People have flowed to overlook places inside the National Park for views of the outbreak.

Kilauea is about 320 kilometers southeast of Honolulu.
