The perspective and power that Brave New World is turned up is more rooted in the actors’ performances than anything else on the page, a dynamically well represented by Mackie’s performance as Sam Wilson. With a captain of America, Sam’s true power is his ability to make the best of others and advise them when they are at their lowest. It is one of the things that adds Sam’s approach from Steve Rogers’: He is a people who is not a bad place to start for a lower case “L” leader. Mackie has the passion for society at the center of everything Sam does, and the strong foundation he has built with the character gives the rest of the brave new world a great sparring partner. Sam has taken the young Air Force Pilot Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez) under his wing (s) as a new false falcon, and his mentorship of the exuberant soldier does more to emphasize Sam’s heroism than any missile, he Downs or bullet, which deflects. Mackie and Torres have a big big brother/little brother dynamic, and although the new Falcon is mostly right here for a riding-long, Ramirez makes a charismatic first impression.

Sams Weights Loyalities play most significantly in how brave New World exposes Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), the “forgotten cap” that reminds Sam seriously that his horrible story could repeat himself if he puts too much confidence in President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford) and his administration. In a relatively small amount of screentime shines luminous, and Bradley burns with bravado, which becomes heartbreaking vulnerability as he is again scapegoated by political forces, especially during a prison visit where he can’t even see Sam in his eye. Like in Falcon and the winter soldierBradley turns out to be a very strong character to base the human efforts of history, but this is where brave new world trips over all the old material that is around. When you went into a brave new world, you either saw Falcon and The Winter Soldier, or you didn’t. If you did, brave New World’s handling of Bradley is functionally identical and it cannot land with so much gravity. If you didn’t, the movie introduces him in a beautiful glib way, making a joke out of his decades long prison time seconds after he goes on screen. None of the story handles the character with The Grace Lumbly approaches him, but both are much better for him to be part of it.

Lumbly’s performance is perhaps the most powerful, but Harrison Fords are brave New World’s biggest surprise, but perhaps not for the big red grounds you had to expect. The majority of “Thunderbolt” Ross’ time in MCU (as the play of The deceased William Hurt) has been used on Fringes, but Ford brings his Indiana Jones/Han Solo Charisma to the recently embossed politician. And while yes, he makes hulk out in the end, Ford’s far more interesting contributions is how fun it is to see him try not to Hulk Out. No matter what reputation for being a grumpy he has acquired over the years, the actor takes this up and turns the call up, and the question of what will finally push him across the edge – and when – result in brave new world’s most reliable tension.

The other big surprise? This is no glorified commo, Harrison Fords everywhere in this thing! Ross takes the center of the film’s opening moments and wins the presidency of a unity platform that is partly driven by the ongoing geopolitical crisis caused by the emergence of the heavenly tiamut in international waters. The mammoth corpse is full of resources the world’s governments lick their lips over, but after some of these resources are targeted by mercenaries, Ross seems to intend to mediate a diplomatic solution that is enough for SAM to put their swelling past aside in the name of progress.

Mackie and Ford do good to maintain a strong feeling of tension just below the surface of Sam and Ross’ interactions, a mixture of their crackling on screen that Brave New World gets many of its best moments from, even and especially when the plot escalates into a range of skuses between conflicting factions without much definition. Giancarlo Espositos Sidewinder hardly (no small achievement when throwing former Gus Fring) President Ross’ security adviser Ruth Bat-Seraph (Shira Haas) acts as a between to a salaried role with very little to contribute. As far as Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns is concerned, Bruce Banner’s former allies suggests much stronger, more personal detours brave new world, but his relationship with the conflict has an air of its tail, of probability never bears enough fruit to pose a recognizable threat. That said, there is some contagious joy to be as Nelson moves Stearns to more leadership -like territory at the strength of his detached, steely monologue and a fairly excellent design. His swelling green noggin is similar to what happens in Invader Zim when Zim gets hit in the head and one of his false eyes falls out. That’s good, and several villains should have coarse, green heads.
