Security concerns at the University of Houston growing after another attack reported on campus

Houston – A student from the University of Houston was robbed of a gun late Monday night and marked the latest in a series of violent events on campus. The attack has given rise to growing concerns among students and parents, with many calling to the university to take stronger actions to improve campus security.

According to an alarm sent by the university around 1 p.m. 21.15, four suspects approached a person at Metro Bus stop at University Drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard. One of the suspects, armed with a silver semi-automatic gun, required the victim’s phone. After the victim complied with, the group fled the stage.

This incident follows a series of attacks last week, including two separate assaults in the Welcome Center Parking Garage and another on one Metro Rail platform. The University Police have arrested at least one individual in connection with a sexual assault in the garage, although officials confirmed that the suspect is not linked to the other robberies.

With security reasons for assembly, students and parents encourage the university to take immediate action.

“I worry about my safety all the time,” said Aisha Freeman, an UH student. “I literally have pepper spray – I didn’t really feel the need to use it before, but you never know now. And that’s not ok. I’m glad they have more security, but I wish steps were taken before Friday. “

Jaslyn Webb, another student, repeated these concerns.

“For the amount we pay in the teaching, security should definitely be increased,” she said.

In response to recent violence, a protest is planned for dinner at Butler Plaza, where students and members of the community plan to demand stronger security measures from university officials.
