Cobra Kai -Rolle crew was never worried about skepticism from Diehard Karate Kid -fans: “The franchise as a whole has been completely behind us”

Cobra Kai stars Mary Mouser and Gianni Decenzo say they were not at all concerned about the first negative reception to Karate Kid Revival Series.

“I didn’t even realize it would be like, it was examined until people saw it, and they were like, ‘Oh my god, I thought it would be garbage,'” Decenzo tells GamesRadar+. “It’s like, oh, glad it wasn’t. I would have been far more afraid to go into the first season if I knew but we passed the trash. We did it. We’re not garbage .

The series, which picks up about 40 years after the first karate kid film, watches long -time rivals Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) start their own dojos and train a new generation of martial artists. Decenzo plays Demetri Alexopoulos, Tech Genius and best friend of Nerd-Vindte-Bully-Vindte-Hero Eli ‘Hawk’ Moskowitz (Jacob Bertrand). Mouser plays Sam Larusso, Daniel’s daughter.

Karate Kid -Genstart in 2010 starring in Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan received mixed reviews, and was the last post in the franchise before Cobra Kai appeared when a YouTube -Red Series in 2018. Netflix scooped up quickly and did it to one of streaming giant’s biggest hits. Since its inception, the series has included countless comos from actors from and has made sure to stay true to the original karate kid trilogy.

“I definitely feel like the franchise, as a whole, has been completely behind us. However, it is true. I don’t think we were ever in a negative position where people expressed us that they thought wished us badly or wanted Us ill or thought it would blow up in our faces, ”explains Mouser. “But I have loved that since we kind of have been given to prove our medal, we have never lost that core fanbase. We have to grow and bring people to the original franchise. I’m a fan of a lot of different Things and have been a part of fandoms where people are not so inviting to new fans where they are like, ‘No, you were not here for the first day,’ or ‘you do not know the difficulties as a fan of blah blah blah. ‘Don’t? ”
