Top 25 Roundup: JT Toppin leads No. 12 Texas Tech to Wild Win

JT Toppin scored a career high 41 points and secured a steal of 33 seconds left on the second overtime as the No. 12 Texas Tech got away with a wild 111-106 win over Arizona State on Wednesday in Lubbock, Texas.

Toppin logged a total of eight points in OTS. He made 17 of 22 shots from the field in general and pulled a game high 15 rebounds. His thump on an assist from Darrion Williams gave Red Raiders (19-5, 10-3 Big 12) a three-point lead with just under one minute left on the other overtime.

Shawn Phillips Jr.’s Jumper pulled Sun Devils (12-12, 3-10) within one but Texas Tech made four of six free throw in the waning seconds to keep the victory.

In a tie game with less than 20 seconds left in the first overtime, Red Raiders’ Christian Anderson put the ball loose from Alston Mason near Midcourt, who seemed to create a game-winning Fastbreak lineup for Kerwin Walton. However, Phillips ran him down and made a game -saving block of the glass.

Cooper Flagg scored 27 points when Blue Devils jumped back from a loss of authority and beat Golden Bears in Durham, NC

Flagg shot 8-AF-14 from the floor and added five rebounds, three assists and three steals to Blue Devils (21-3, 13-1 Atlantic Coast Conference). Khaman Maluach tiled in 10 points and 12 rebounds for Blue Devils, while Tyrese Proctor scored 18 points.

Jeremiah Wilkinson ran Golden Bears (12-13, 5-9) with 21 points. Rytis Petraitis had 11 points and six boards when Cal took his fourth loss in five games.

Villanova 73, No. 9 St. John’s 71

Tyler Perkins drained a 3-pointer with 8.7 seconds left when the host Wildcats ended Red Storm’s 10-match winning row with an exciting win.

Simeon Wilcher made a 3-point with 27.3 seconds left to put the red storm (21-4, 12-2 Big East) ahead. However, Jhamir Brickus made an extra care to Perkins at the other end, and he drained the decisive shot from the right wing.

Wilcher missed a 3-point double-clutched on the final possession of St. John’s. It sealed the third equal victory for Villanova (15-10, 8-6), which also avenged a loss to the Red Storm on January 11.

South Carolina (10-14, 0-11) took its 11-consecutive loss despite getting 20 points, six rebounds, three assists and three blocks from Murray-Boyles. Nick Pringle scored 12, while Jamarii Thomas had 11 and Zachary Davis produced seven points and 10 boards.

Mark Mitchell scored a career hill 25 points to lead the tigers to a rut of those soon in Columbia, Mo. Mitchell’s performance pushed him past the milestone 1,000 career.

Caleb Grill scored 15 points, Tony Perkins added 12 and Anthony Robinson II tiled in 10 for Missouri (18-6, 7-4 sec), which improved to 16-1 at home this season.

Duke Miles scored 18 points, and Jalon Moore added 10 for Oklahoma (16-8, 3-8), who lost his third straight match, everything against ranked opponents.
