Worcester public schools set 2-hour delay Thursday

Worcester Public Schools open with a two-hour delay Thursday due to winter weather expected to pass Wednesday night to Thursday morning.

Worcester County is under a Winter weather advisory From National Weather Service from 7 p.m. 22 Wednesday to 7 p.m. 10 Thursday. Snow and gossip are expected to turn to freezing rain in the morning before switching to all the rain in the afternoon.

Several other school districts in the region will have delayed openings.

Worcester is expected to get around an empty snow and gossip accumulation overnight and less than half an inch further accumulation on Thursday morning. Temperatures will be around freezing at sunrise before rising to the top 30s at noon.

Northern parts of Worcester County could meanwhile watch 2 to 4 inches of snow overnight tonight.

Friday is expected Valentine’s Day, sunny sky, but temperatures remain in their 20s.

Central Massachusetts could see a similar blend of snow, gossip and freezing rain on Saturday afternoon and evening.
