Trump announces that he was elected to Kennedy Center President

President Trump said on Wednesday he had been “unanimously” elected to lead the board of the Kennedy Center and end his takeover of Washington, the DC Cultural Center.

The move, which the president announced on his social media site Truth Social, comes after Trump moved to remove members of the organization’s board of directors who had been appointed by his predecessor, Joe Biden.

“It is a great honor to be chairman of the Kennedy Center, especially with this fantastic board,” Trump wrote of truth social. “We want to make the Kennedy Center a very special and exciting place!”

On Monday, Trump announced that Richard Grenell, who acts as his envoy to special missions, would be the temporary CEO of the Kennedy Center. Trump has criticized the organization for having programming that is overly waking up. “No more drag shows or other anti-American propaganda-only the best,” Trump wrote of truth social while announcing Grenell’s appointment.

Kennedy Center’s upcoming season includes revival of popular musicals such as “Les Misérables”, “Legally Blonde” and “The Sound of Music”, as well as a show celebrating the 50th anniversary of “Dungeons & Dragons” and a production of “Parade,” There depicts the trial and the lynching of Jewish American Leo Frank in Georgia in 1915.

Trump’s changes were met with immediate action of entertainment figures. Shonda Rhimes, the organization’s treasurer, who had been appointed by President Barack Obama, immediately announced that she had resigned from the board.

“I can confirm that from today Shonda has retired from the board of the Kennedy Center. We have no further comments, ”said a rep for Rhimes.

Soprano Renée Fleming said she would resign as artistic advisor to the center, the New York Times reported.

Meanwhile, Ben Folds, singer-songwriter and Ben Five Five Frontman, Wednesday on Instagram said he will resign as artistic adviser to the National Symphony Orchestra because of the president’s actions. “Given the development of the Kennedy Center, which is today today, I withdraw as artistic advisor to the NSO,” he wrote. “Not for me.”

The Kennedy Center said that the newly composed board will include staff chief of the White House Susie Wiles; Chief of Staff for the White House Dan Scavino; Attorney General Pam Bondi; and other Lady Usha Vance. The board also concluded the contract with Deborah Rutter, who has been president of the Kennedy Center for more than a decade.
