Weather changes arrive when winter storms go to Arizona today

Phoenix (Azfamily) – Look for major weather changes in Arizona over the next 48 hours as a winter storm pushes into the state from the west.

The clouds become thicker today throughout the state as atmospheric moisture moves into the state. Look for mostly cloudy sky in the valley this afternoon and a high temperature of 70 degrees.

Rain and snow spread from west to east over the state later today. There is a small chance of rain in the valley tonight with a better chance of widespread showers tomorrow morning. Preputy plots appear to be light, generally about one -tenth of an inch in the valley, with higher heights just north and east of the city, gathering closer to a quarter inch.

Friday will also be a first alarm day with rain in the forecast and local windy weather.

The winter storm is likely to be more marked in the State Mountains, with decent snowfall starting today and continues Friday. Snow levels will swing, making it difficult to determine exactly how much snow could fall.
