Jayden Reed has been an underrated contributor to the Packers offense this season, especially in the red zone. Expect him to find paydirt Thursday night against the Lions.

Thursday Night Football’s matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions is shaping up to be one of the biggest games of the year. Let’s hope it lives up to the hype.

The high total is a good sign, at least from an entertainment aspect. It’s also a positive for those who love to bet on “touchdown anytime” props. And let’s be honest, everyone is.

With the number over 50 points and plenty of playmakers on the field, there are seven players shorter than 2/1 to score a touchdown on Thursday night.

I’m customizing these NFC North foes and giving my best Packers vs. Lions anytime touchdown pick for tonight.

As of late Wednesday afternoon, WR Romeo Doubs is still in concussion protocol, and that doesn’t bode well for that status on Thursday.

Last week, with Doubs out, Jayden Reed made the most of his surge in action with three catches on six targets — two for touchdowns in the win over Miami on Thanksgiving.

Reed doesn’t run as much as guys like Doubs and Christian Watson, but he’s a proven threat in the red zone. He sits second on the team in RZ targets with nine, and he intercepted seven of those passes (five for touchdowns) inside the 20-yard line.

We’ve also seen the speedy 5-foot-11 Reed used as a runner, racking up 128 total rushing yards on 18 carries along with a touchdown in Week 1.

Reed’s Week 14 projections range between 0.3 and 0.4 touchdowns vs. Detroit Lions, and that’s before accounting for Doubs’ possible absence. He is listed as low as +130 in some shops, but FanDuel gives +150.

Lions anytime touchdown

Sam LaPorta anytime touchdown
+240 by FanDuel

My Packers vs. Lions predictions like Sam LaPorta go over his receptions total of 3.5 in this game, considering he’s hauled in a total of 18 targets over the past three weeks. LaPorta also had a huge showing on Thanksgiving Day, scoring two touchdowns in the win over Chicago.

Quarterback Jared Goff gushed over his tight end after that game, and he and head coach Dan Campbell talked about LaPorta’s role in this offense now that he’s back to full health.

The Lions’ second-year TE was hampered by injuries in training camp and the early weeks of the schedule, but is still second in red zone targets with 12 for eight receptions and four TDs inside the 20-yard line.

LaPorta takes a Green Bay Packers defense that has allowed big numbers to compete with tight ends along with four touchdowns. Green Bay is also soft up the middle and missing some key coverage players for Thursday night.

His Week 14 player projections call for between 0.3 and 0.4 touchdowns against the Cheeseheads, which should work out to a “touchdown anytime” price around +180. Most books have LaPorta under 2/1, but FanDuel has a nice return on the Lions TE to find paydirt for the second week in a row at +240.
