Gracie Abrams is like the rest of us — not quite ready to say goodbye Taylor Swift‘s Era’s Tour.

Abrams, 25, who served again as a guest performer during Swift’s final tour show at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada on Sunday, Dec. 8, took to the stage with a piece of paper ahead of her final performance.

Reading a heartfelt speech to the audience that was captured by a fan and sent via TikTok that night, Abrams said she was “not ready for it to be over” before paying tribute to the profound impact Swift, 34, has had on her life.

“Like all of you, I (was) raised on Taylor’s songs,” began Abrams, dressed in an angelic white dress. “Sadly, I needed a moment in my life that I didn’t think anyone else could understand or know or hurt or long for or love or lose, and yet she did. How do we put words to it? We don’t yet, but I know we have each other, thanks to Taylor, her music, her generosity, her curiosity, her wild and unparalleled pen, her superpower to look into our lives and create soundtracks for each formative moment that we have had and that we will have.”

At one point, Abrams, who performed a duet with Swift during the show on Saturday, Dec. 7, performed in Vancouver, became emotional with his voice breaking. However, the musician pressed on, telling the crowd that her night’s mission was complete.

“We are all here to remind her of how deeply she has touched us,” Abrams continued. “How much we appreciate every little detail that she dreams of to please us and thank her, from the bottom of our hearts, for giving us the time of our lives.”

In October, Swift returned to North America for a handful of final shows in the US and Canada.

Abrams was a self-proclaimed Swifite before forming a friendship with Swift, said Vanity Fair in a July 2023 profile that “every formative memory in my life is paired with a Taylor Swift song that got me through.”

Shortly before the couple met, Abrams got a call from an unknown number inviting her to Swift’s birthday party. She immediately called a joint producer to confirm the numbers belonged to Swift before answering in an attempt to avoid getting her hopes up if it wasn’t the pop star.

“(It was) the best experience of my life,” Abrams said of the concerts during a December 2023 interview with Black. “Having it become part of my weekly routine for four months straight has bled into every way of my life, not just how happy I feel internally, but the songs we’ve made.”

In June, Swift confirmed that the tour would end in December, calling the venture “the most exhausting, all-consuming, but most joyful, most rewarding, most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my life.”
