Indiana school closings, delays through Monday, January 6, 2025

With a storm dropping several inches of snow across the Indianapolis area, some area school districts canceled in-person classes for Monday, extending winter break by one more day.

That’s in addition to districts that had already scheduled Monday as teacher competition day.

In most area school districts, including those in Marion and Hamilton counties, superintendents make the final call on whether to close or delay classes after weighing a number of factors, including traffic safety and weather forecasts.

If school is canceled due to weather, district leaders can decide whether to hold a distance learning day or give students an old-fashioned snow day.
