FORECAST

Good morning! While rain is a sure thing in San Antonio today, know that it will hold off until later this morning, with the best odds this afternoon. Meanwhile, it will be cloudy and cold. Here’s what to expect:

MIXTURE OF HILL LAND (MINOR IMPACTS):

The first in our area to see precipitation will be the Hill Country. While temperatures are currently above freezing in these areas, any precipitation could drag temperatures down to freezing. At that time, some light ice accumulation (up to 0.10″) is possible. We expect only minor impacts, with some of the less busy bridges and overpasses seeing some slick spots. Elevated surfaces and metal surfaces could also see some light accumulation. We have crews in Kerrville monitoring the situation. Early Friday morning there may also be some light icing or a few snowflakes. Again, we expect any impacts to be minor.

Ice impacts will be limited to minor in the Hill Country. (Copyright 2025 by KSAT – All rights reserved.)

STILL, COLD RAIN THIS AFTERNOON SA

As the storm system approaches, rain will fill the entire area, with more steady rain setting in by lunchtime in San Antonio. The rain will also bring temperatures down in the city, but not below freezing. We will likely sit in the mid 30s and be left with a cold rain. Expect rainy conditions to last until around midnight before we start to dry out during Friday morning. All said and done, San Antonio could be looking at up to an inch of rainfall, which we will definitely take!

TRAVEL IMPACTS FOR NORTH TEXAS

Please know if you plan to travel north to Dallas or west to West Texas, there will be travel impacts. Winter weather becomes more of an issue north of Waco and especially for the Metroplex. Accumulations are likely until Friday morning.

FRIDAY CLEANING

All precipitation ends by sunrise Friday. Gusty winds will follow up behind our storm system, making for a fairly windy Friday morning. The sky will gradually clear from west to east, and there is a chance of sunshine at the end of the day. That will allow temperatures to climb into the 40s.

ANOTHER FREEZE SATURDAY MORNING

With clear skies, the 20s are on tap for Saturday morning. San Antonio will likely stay in the upper 20s, but a hard freeze is possible for the Hill Country.
