Paris Hilton is ‘heartbroken’ after losing her Malibu home to bushfires

Paris Hilton is “heartbroken beyond words” after learning her Malibu home was destroyed by the deadly wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles.

The media personality and businesswoman took to her Instagram on Wednesday afternoon to share in an emotional post: “Sitting with my family, watching the news and watching our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience. . This home was where we built so many precious memories. It’s where Phoenix took its first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London.”

Despite the devastation, Hilton also reflected on the positive memories she has had at home with her husband, Carter Reum, and two young children, Phoenix and London.

“While the loss is overwhelming, I hold onto the gratitude that my family is safe,” she wrote. “My heart and prayers go out to every family affected by these fires. To all the people who have lost their homes, their memories and their beloved pets. My heart goes out to those who are still in danger or grieving greater loss. The devastation is unimaginable. To know that so many are waking up today without the place they called home is truly heartbreaking.”

Hilton went on to say that her 11:11 Media Impact Team is already working to see how they can best support affected communities. She also expressed gratitude that first responders are working non-stop to control the fire.

“To the brave firefighters and first responders who risk their lives to protect us – you are true heroes,” she continued. “I am so grateful for your courage, dedication and the incredible sacrifices you make to save lives and fight this unimaginable battle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Her lengthy post concluded: “Please, everyone, stay safe and follow evacuation orders. Let’s protect each other and hold on to hope that these fires will soon be contained. Sending you all so much love and strength. We are in here together, LA. Hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight. You never know when things might change.”

Hilton was among those evacuating areas of LA as the deadly wildfires swept across the county. Other Hollywood stars have also taken to social media to share that they tragically lost their homes in the bushfires, including Mandy Moore, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, James Woods, Diane Warren, Cameron Mathison and Ricki Lake, among others.

The fire started Tuesday in Pacific Palisades before spreading to parts of Malibu and Santa Monica overnight. As of early Wednesday, the LA Fire Department said the Palisades fire was zero percent contained. Three other active wildfires in the LA area — the Eaton, Hurst and Woodley fires — are also at zero percent containment.
