A Lotto player has set himself up for a very exciting 2025 after winning a jackpot worth more than £7.5 million.

The ticket holder overcame odds of almost one in 14 million to match all six main numbers and claim the top prize.

They are the third Lotto millionaires of the year so far, with the others matching five numbers in the two draws that have taken place since January 1.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: ‘We are delighted that this life-changing Lotto jackpot prize has now been claimed. What a wonderful win, especially as we start the new year, just imagine what 2025 could look like for this lucky winner.

“Our focus is now on supporting the ticket holder through the process so they can start enjoying their winnings as soon as possible.”

The winning numbers this time were 16, 19, 22, 24, 27, 35, and the bonus number was 28.

The most important number that the successful player will be concerned about is the ultimate jackpot of £7,533,329.

Once their ticket has been validated and paid for, they have the choice of going public or keeping the news to themselves.

No player matched all five numbers in Lotto HotPicks, which use the same numbers as the Lotto draw.

However, 16 ticket holders won £13,000 each after matching four numbers.

The winning Thunderball numbers were 5, 11, 14, 17 and 35, while the Thunderball number was 08.

One player won £500,000 after matching all five numbers plus Thunderball.

Wednesday’s estimated jackpot will be £2 million.
