Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, will be laid to rest on Thursday after his death on December 29 at the age of 100.

Carter’s state funeral began Saturday morning at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. After lying in repose at the Carter Presidential Center, Carter’s remains were transported to the US Capitol on Tuesday.

Carter continued to lie in state on Wednesday with a military honor guard where members of the public could visit to pay their respects.

Carter’s funeral will be held on Thursday, January 9. Funeral services for the 39th president had begun on Saturday, January 4.

What time is Jimmy Carter’s funeral?

Carter’s national funeral service at the Washington National Cathedral will begin with a brief arrival ceremony at 9:30 a.m. ET, followed by a full service at 10.

Carter will be gradually transported to Plains, Georgia, where a private funeral service will be held at 3:45 PM ET. Afterward, he and his family will move to the Carter residence for a private burial at 1 p.m. 17.20 PT.
