Police believe Macomb County mother of 2 is likely missing

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – In the search for missing Macomb County mother, investigators say there is a “strong possibility of foul play” in Ashley Elkins’ disappearance.

Could the answer to Ashley Elkins’ whereabouts be inside a home at the Hampton Courts Apartments on Pinehurst Street?

That’s the last known location where her phone pinged, a device belonging to her ex-boyfriend.

When authorities arrived at the apartment, they found neither.

On Tuesday night, investigators searched his place.

“They had evidence technicians from the state police and they were here for a while,” said Timothy Dick, an eyewitness.

What did the authorities find?

According to a joint press release issued by the Warren and Roseville Police Departments, investigators revealed “substantial evidence, including forensics, was recovered and will be further analyzed by the Michigan State Police.”

The authorities also seized a container from the apartments.

Meanwhile, police also found the missing Warren mother’s 2009-2010 Chevy Malibu in the area of ​​13 Mile and Little Mack.

Elkins’ family is also participating in the search.

Loved ones and lawyers say they are devastated by the disappearance while frustrated by the investigation.

“It just took too long,” said Monika Elkins, mother of Ashley Elkins. “It’s like they didn’t care… like she was nobody.”

Natalie Wilson, co-founder of the Black and Missing Foundation, told Local 4 the Elkins family contacted the organization after filing the police report to raise awareness.

“Well, it’s very concerning how much time has passed,” Wilson said. “She’s been missing for six days now.”

However, Warren police said they began an investigation immediately after receiving the missing person’s report.

In the latest update, the department shared how it executed nearly 20 search warrants; made video screens; reviewed digital evidence; and interviewed several friends and family members.

Several leads are being actively pursued by multiple law enforcement agencies, according to police departments.
