That’s how much snow we could see over North Georgia

One of the biggest questions Channel Action News viewers ask when a winter storm approaches is how much snow will we get?

Severe Weather Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says it depends on where you live.

From the latest models Wednesday night, if you live in the far North Georgia mountains, you’ll likely see about 4-6 inches of snow by the time the storm leaves early Saturday morning.

“Little if any ice will interfere,” said Nitz.

The southern parts of the mountains to the north of metro Atlanta will see about 2-4 inches of snow.

“Then we’ll get down to the transition zone for most of the metro area where we’ll have one to three inches of snow, mostly snow early Friday, and transition to freezing rain Friday afternoon and evening,” Nitz said.

The metro far south down to central Georgia will just see a cold rain from the storm.
