In addition to several school districts across metro Atlanta and North Georgia closing on Friday due to expected snow and ice, local government offices as well as some churches, medical offices, businesses and organizations are also choosing to shut down.

All of North Georgia and parts of Central Georgia will be under one Winter Storm Watch begins Friday and continues through Saturday. A watch indicates that heavy snow, sleet or freezing rain is possible, and Georgians are advised to prepare for potential power outages and hazardous road conditions.

As of Friday morning, the City of Atlanta, Cobb County Government, Walton County Government and the DeKalb County Board of Health have announced closures.

Cobb County Chief Judge Gregory Poole has issued an order to close the courthouse on Friday, with normal court operations set to resume Monday morning. The only exception is the Cobb Magistrate Court, which will maintain its 24/7 operations.
