Travis Kelce talks about the one time a year he didn’t want to get married

Don’t expect to see Taylor Swift wearing her cardigan to a fall wedding.

Travis Kelce made his opinion on wedding seasons very clear on the Wednesday, January 8, episode New heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce.

When a caller asked the couple about the idea of a fall wedding interfering with football season, Travis, 35, and Jason, 37, had two different takes on the situation.

“I don’t actually know people who have gotten married in the fall,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said, “because all the weddings I’ve been to and all my friends always do it in the summer.”

Travis then light-heartedly encouraged the caller and his girlfriend to figure out a compromise, noting, “You have to be willing to find a weekend where the team might not play anybody good.”

“Also, if you really have a problem with it, it might be in her best interest not to have it in the fall, so she knows you’re invested in the anniversary whenever it comes out.”

The NFL star, who has been dating Swift since 2023, eventually said he didn’t think fall was a good time to get married.

“I’ve seen weddings in f–king February. I’ve seen weddings everywhere but fall,” Travis said. “So I’m not sure if fall was a good wedding season.”

Jason, who has been married to Kylie Kelce since 2018, disagreed, saying that any future groom should prioritize his bride over his sports team.

“Brother, I’ll tell you right now. Make the fall and the wedding and avoid this frivolous fight that means absolutely nothing,” the former Philadelphia Eagles center urged the caller.

“You can watch the football match a second time, like, record it and watch it again. I don’t know what you want me to say. There are certain things that are more important than football, and if the wedding is not more important than football, we have some bigger problems here.”

Travis stuck to his anti-drop stance, noting, “Don’t make my friends not go. Everybody has season tickets. Okay? Don’t let my friends choose whether to sell their tickets that week.

Jason, who is currently expecting his fourth child, struggled with that view, adding: “There are a lot more important things than football and weddings happen to be one of them. And not arguing with your wife is way up there with more important than football . So I just wanted to do the wedding when she wants, because that’s kind of your job now.”

Travis stood his ground and jokingly ended the discussion by quoting Ted LassoDani Rojas who declares: “Football is life!”
