Aston Villa join Leipzig and AC Milan in the race for Caen youngster Tidiam Gomis

According to a report from L’Équipe journalist Loïc TanziPremier League team Aston Villa have begun negotiations for a young French winger from Ligue 2 team Caen, Tidiam Gomis (18). Out of contract in June 2025, the France U19 International has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Nomandiet-based side this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

Tanzi reports that Villa have been keen on the French youth market in recent weeks and have opened talks with the Caen management structure, majority owned by Real Madrid and France star Kylian Mbappé. Les Vikings have been in trouble since the arrival of the Mbappé clan at the club. Caen are currently 16th in Ligue 2, despite initial hopes of a promotion push before the start of the season.

However, it will not be as easy as made for Villa, with RB Leipzig and AC Milan also interested in the winger according to Sky Germany correspondent Florian Plettenberg. He says that discussions are underway about a permanent transfer in the winter or a free move in the summer.
