On Thursday night, Penn State will aim to take an important step closer to its first national championship since 1986 when Nittany Lions face off against Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

After wins against SMU and Boise State in the first round and quarterfinals of the playoffs, respectively, coach James Franklin’s team will face its toughest test ever this postseason when it faces a Fighting Irish team that has won 12 straight games, including a 23-10 win against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl last week.
