‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 Recasting Baylan Skoll with Rory McCann

After Ray Stevenson died in May 2023, a few months before Ahsoka Season 1 released. Questions surrounding his character’s future beyond the finale have lingered since Part 8 premiered in October of that year, and now we may finally have an answer.

Game of Thrones star Rory McCann steps up to play in for Baylan Skoll Ahsoka Season 2, reporter Jeff Sneider said via his newsletter today. It seems that writer/showrunner Dave Filoni is choosing to continue with the character’s story, which was one of the most intriguing in the first season and also one that was left unfinished in the finale.

McCann was a friend of Stevenson and would have received the widow’s blessing, according to the report. He is best known for playing Sandor Clegane, aka The Hound, in Game of Thrones. He was last seen in Gladiator II.

The second season will start filming in the UK this spring (as opposed to the first season which was filmed in LA). Everyone from the main cast is expected to return, though the plot and pretty much all details are being kept under wraps. It is expected to premiere in 2026 on Disney Plus.

Dave Filoni is back to write the entire season, in addition to serving as showrunner and executive producer. No word on whether he’ll direct an episode as well, though that’s quite likely. He may confirm the news at Star Wars Celebration, and use it to tease where the journey might be headed.

Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student who has film as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is lord of the rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy films are not his only cup of tea, as films from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he began to understand the language of cinema. He’s the guy who wants to see a black and white movie just because it’s in black and white.
