Wildfires in Los Angeles: Fire spread slows as homes and damage increase

The toll of destruction across Los Angeles continued to rise as the fire battled into its third day, with a new blaze north of the 101 Freeway growing rapidly and prompting more evacuations.

The Kenneth Four erupted and expanded Thursday afternoon in Hidden Hills, about 50 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. An evacuation alert intended only for residents of the area was mistakenly sent to 10 million people and then withdrawn, causing confusion and heightened tensions.
