NEW Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s larger and longer crossword puzzle. Most days there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.

Unlike its bigger sibling, the NYT Mini Crossword is free to play New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you must have a NYT Games subscription to access past puzzles in the archives.

NEW Mini is a fun daily distraction that usually takes no time at all. I’m trying to beat the default weekday grid in less than a minute. But sometimes I can’t quite figure out a clue or two and need to reveal the answer.

To help you avoid doing that, here’s NEW Mini Crossword answers (spoilers ahead, of course):

I thought this was another pretty easy one today, except I first spelled Sonia with a Y instead of an I. Interesting choosing Raygun and Moo Deng as memes for all of 2024. I forgot who Moo Deng actually was , but she’s the baby hippo who always looks like she’s screaming at everything. I hope she is well now and has found peace.
