Inbetweeners star unrecognizable in hunky transformation for SAS Rogue Heroes

The Channel 4 comedy star, who starred alongside the four Inbetweeners boys, looks dramatically different as a muscular soldier in the new series of SAS Rogue Heroes

This Inbetweeners star looks unrecognizable as a soldier in the new series of SAS Rogue Heroes.

Actor Theo Barklem-Biggs played rogue party-goer Richard in The Inbetweeners Movie (2011), who awkwardly tries to cling to Will, Simon, Jay and Neil during their boys’ holiday in Malia. The Inbetweeners gang engages with him on the ill-fated boozing trip and quickly regrets it.

They keep bumping into Richard, who reveals to the boys that he’s decided to go on a “sesh” vacation all by himself. He asks the boys for booze, money and showers, and at the end of the film he is seen with his elderly parents on the party boat.

But these days actor Theo looks worlds away from the unhinged character as he has become a hunky soldier in the new series of the BBC’s SAS Rogue Heroes. He plays ripped military man Reg Seekings, a member of the SAS during the Second World War.

Reg Seekings is based on a real person of the same name who was one of the founding members of the Special Air Service (SAS). He started from the lower ranks and became a sergeant-major.

Theo stars alongside Game of Thrones star Alfie Allen and Skins star Jack O’Connell in the series, as well as Sex Education star Connor Swindells, Kingsman’s Sofia Boutella and The Crown’s Dominic West.

The series, created by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, launched its second series on New Year’s Day. The unit is now led by O’Connell’s Irish hardman character Paddy Mayne.

The team, called the Special Raiding Service, is sent to Sicily, where they are dropped on the beaches and thrown into battle. The team must contend with the likes of the Sicilian Mafia.

Joe Thomas, who played Simon in The Inbetweeners, previously discussed the possibility of a third Inbetweeners film. He told the Always Be Comedy podcast: “A movie, I think, works with the right idea. It would be challenging to do another series, just because of the timeline, but with the movie, there are all kinds of possibilities. We’re all over the place we still in each other’s lives.

“We all still like each other and if it was something that came up I think we would do it. I feel like we all still like each other, we’ve been able to go away and have different apes off our backs in terms of things that we felt we had to do other than the Inbetweeners to prove something to ourselves.”

SAS Rogue Heroes can be seen on BBC iPlayer.
