Difficult travel days as more lake-effect snow heads for Ontario, risk of 30+ cm

Baron - Ontario Tuesday Night Precipitation - Jan 13

As a trough moves through and shifts winds from the west to the northwest, the snow showers will be pushed south on Tuesday afternoon, which could also bring a flurry of showers to parts of the GTA.

Snow showers will then continue off Georgian Bay and Lake Huron, targeting a few different areas. Meaford to Wasaga Beach will see showers off Georgian Bay and then from Grand Bend to the Saugeen coast off Lake Huron.

Baron - Ontario snow through Wednesday - January 13th

The worst impacts will be mainly in the snow bands and across northern Ontario, where travel will be locally challenging.

“Snow showers cause weather conditions to vary significantly; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometers are common,” says Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) in the snow shower warning. “Rapidly accumulating snow can make travel difficult in some places.”

Temperatures will be quite cold in the middle of this week, but will then return to near-seasonal values late in the week and into the weekend.
