Emmet County Sheriff’s Office confirms suspicious death was a shooting – 9&10 News

EMMET COUNTY – The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspicious death being investigated in Springvale Township was the result of a shooting.

At this time, the names of the individuals involved are being withheld due to the investigation, deputies said.

According to initial investigations, the deceased person entered the home of an acquaintance in Springvale Township. A struggle ensued at the residence, which led to the shooting, deputies said.

Investigators from the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office are still on the scene and continuing their investigation, while the Michigan State Police Crime Lab will complete its work on the scene shortly.

Sheriff Matt Leirstein reiterates to the community that this is an isolated incident.

“There is no immediate threat or danger to the public at this time,” he said.
