Landfill search enters day 3 for Michigan mom who disappeared while running errands

ROSEVILLE, MI – The landfill search for evidence related to the disappearance of a Michigan mother is now in its third day, FOX 2 Detroit reports.

Ashley Elkins, 30, of Warren, was last heard from Jan. 2 when she sent a text saying she was on her way home from running errands; she never made it, the report said. The mother of two boys was reported missing the following day.

Police began searching the Pine Tree Acres landfill Monday.

Elkin’s ex-boyfriend, De’Andre Booker, 32, of Roseville, is charged with lying to police in connection with her disappearance, the report said. He is being held in the Macomb County Jail. Elkin’s phone last pinged at Booker’s apartment, and police took a dumpster as evidence when they searched there on Jan. 7.
