The Nintendo Switch 2 is not quite here yet, but as the possibility of an official reveal approaches, new leaks about the upcoming console are also coming – and according to ex. Nintendo PR managers, the beloved company is probably struggling with them.

Speaks in a new podcast post regarding all of them latest Switch 2 leaks and how they might affect Nintendo, Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang speculate that the company is almost certainly discouraged by the situation. According to Ellis, the leak has gotten out of control because of Nintendo’s “mindset that they could control everything.” Yang agrees, saying there was “always” a dangerous mentality of “we’re different.”

“The thing is, they’re no different than any other company,” Yang explains. In other words, Nintendo is not immune to leaks – and the Switch 2 only serves as proof. It all hits even harder, as both Ellis and Krysta describe, thanks to the company’s love of surprise. “In terms of inside Nintendo … that sense of surprise is so valuable and so important,” Ellis says. “We would hear 30-minute lectures (about) the value of surprise.”

As for how Nintendo is handling the leak now that they’re out, Yang reveals that she’s “100% sure they’re really crazy – to the most serious level.” The former executive then states that the company is “very, very, very sorry about this.” Throughout the podcast, both Ellis and Yang continue to emphasize how significant surprise is to Nintendo, and how much work goes into maintaining this element, even without the threat of leaks.

All that being said, it’s understandable that Nintendo isn’t thrilled with all the recent leaks. With a possible Switch 2 reveals come this week, there’s no telling what has and hasn’t been legit – from blurred images to long threads claiming to contain truthful insight into the new console, it feels impossible to tell what’s real and what’s not. Hopefully Nintendo will share more themselves soon.
