The Cheerleading Squads head to Orlando and aim for more national titles this week

MOREHEAD, Ky. — The tradition hopes to live on this weekend. Started by the late Myron Doan in 1988, Morehead State Cheerleading has 54 national championships. This year’s edition of the MSU program will strive to add more titles to the trophy when they compete at the Universal Cheerleading Association College Nationals in Orlando Friday through Sunday.

Head coach Mark Coleman will field four different teams this season. Coleman has the chance to become the MSU leader with the most national titles coached. Coleman has guided teams to 19 UCA national championships since 2014. Doan led the Eagles to 20 titles before head coaches Tony Nash and Bill Mayo also led the teams to titles.

MSU opens events on Friday with the Gameday squad taking the mats at Wide World of Sports at 9:10 a.m. ET. The All-Girl team, the two-time defending champions and with 14 titles in their history, is up on Saturday at 9:34. Small Co-Ed, which won a national championship in its first year of competition in 2023, hits the floor at 12:34 The great Co-Ed team, which has won 29 titles since 1988, does its routine at 2:46 p.m. Saturday.

Finals and prizes are on Sunday.
